Three industry-standard libraries, compiled for the browser, do the heavy lifting: PDF.js (the renderer Firefox ships with) reads PDFs, pdf-lib merges and splits them, and jsPDF builds new ones from your images. Files are processed on your device — a contract or bank statement never touches a server, which is exactly how documents containing personal data should be handled.
Merging and splitting copy pages rather than re-rendering them, so text stays selectable and vector graphics stay sharp. PDF-to-image renders each page at 2× scale for readability.
